Employee Stories

Anthony Jackson

Project Manager

“Becoming an Intern at Clune Construction was inspiring and helped open my eyes to the day-to-day challenges that one must overcome… I gravitated more towards being a Project Manager and Clune made sure to equip me with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to be successful in my career. I was able to receive and accept a full-time offer prior to starting my last semester of college at Illinois State University and I haven’t looked back since. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

Randy Starbird

President, West Region

“Being an intern in the 90’s was a lot different than that of today, but what remains the same is the exposure to great people, new opportunities and to be a part of the inner workings of construction management. Applying what you are learning in real world, everyday experiences is important to the development and understanding of the career path you are choosing. Being a Civil Engineering major I never had the idea of being a General Contractor, but my internship changed all of that and I’m glad it did.”

Jacqueline Rosas

Assistant Project Manager

“I am forever grateful to Clune for giving me the opportunity to intern and gain experience within the construction industry during college. My internship experience with Clune better prepared me for when I started my career…  As an intern, I was able to see how a GC operated, what specific roles consisted of, and how a project team works together to accomplish one common goal… My internship experience was a very rewarding one and my advice to any college student is to take any opportunity you have to intern before beginning your full-time position.”

Saeed Aljarrah

Safety Director

“Being a safety intern at Clune was a wonderful experience, both personally and professionally… With proper direction and guidance, I was given all the tools needed to succeed. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to stay on, when the summer internship was over. And when the opportunity to move to the Clune Los Angeles office came up, I jumped on it. I consider myself very lucky to be a part of Clune and to be able to grow along with the continued company growth… Being a part of something bigger than yourself is very rewarding.”

Thomas Walsh

Application Analyst

“When I started as an IT intern I was brought up to speed gradually through on the job training, I’d learn a new aspect of IT responsibilities each week and add it to my repertoire until I was operating at the level of a full time Systems Technician. In my experience a Clune internship is a great way to learn a lot about a profession very quickly.”

Intern Program

Clune’s Internship Program plays an essential role in growing our talented team.  Many former interns (over 80%!) are working their way through the ranks and shaping the future of Clune on all levels.  Clune’s interns receive the opportunity to work with their teams on all phases of a project and have the opportunity to gain more responsibility over the course of multiple summers or with a semester long Co-Op.  Clune offers internships for students pursuing a career as a Project Manager or Superintendent and in additional company functions including marketing, accounting, information technology, and safety.

Passionate about a career in construction but don’t check every box in the listed qualifications? Don’t let that discourage you from applying! Studies show that many in marginalized communities are less likely to apply to a job unless they believe they are 100% qualified. Clune’s holistic approach to hiring takes into account the individual and the positive addition they could be to our company even if they don’t meet every listed qualification. If your background doesn’t meet all the criteria, we still encourage you to apply. You could be just the right person to fill this role, or be someone we would consider for one of our other opportunities.
