In celebration of 7X24’s International Data Center Day, Clune in partnership with Revolution Workshop, hosted a successful job site tour at two of our active data center projects in the Chicagoland area. The event offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at the complex world of mission-critical construction, highlighting the people and career pathways that power the future of digital infrastructure.
The half-day tour welcomed 16 students from Revolution Workshop, a nonprofit that trains individuals for careers in construction. Participants visited Prime’s Elk Grove Village data center campus and T5’s Northlake data center, experiencing projects at different phases of development. Through structured rotations between trailers and job sites, Clune’s project management and field teams provided insights into professional roles such as superintendents, project managers, MEP coordinators and other leadership positions within the data center construction sector.
“Data centers are the physical foundation of everything from artificial intelligence to cloud computing, yet most people never see what goes into building them,” said Brian Donahue, Managing Director of Clune’s Mission Critical practice. “This event was about pulling back the curtain and showcasing the ‘how’—the people, the planning and the precision it takes to deliver these incredibly complex facilities.”
The tour also featured current Clune employees and Revolution Workshop alumni, who shared how they transitioned into successful, long-term careers at Clune.
Clune’s partnership with Revolution Workshop reflects a long-term commitment to fostering an inclusive, well-prepared and professionally developed construction workforce in this growing industry.
